The UK-based extreme metal act Dragged Into Sunlight have fittingly premiered their new album 'Widowmaker"'on the grimmest day of the year exclusively in North America via Exclaim.ca here. Hailed as a main contender for "Album of the Year" honors by the likes of Revolver and MSN, 'Widowmaker' -- in stores next week -- has been described by the band as "everything heavier and everything louder than everything else."

Recorded in three sessions by producer Tom Dring, the three-track, 40-minute album has been described as "a train wreck of blackened glory" (About.com) and "the strung-out heartbreak of sludge, noise, and dark country" (Revolver). You can pre-order the album along with exclusive merchandise via the Prosthetic webstore here.

Dragged Into Sunlight -- who hide their identities by appearing masked in photos, as well as playing with their backs to the audience in almost complete darkness -- were most recently seen doing the summer festival circuit (including appearances at Roadburn and Maryland Death Fest) as well as touring with the likes of Godflesh, Morbid Angel, Electric Wizard, and Cough.
