Indie-rock group Goldspot is releasing the charity single 'If The Hudson Overflows' today. All proceeds from the sale of the song, which is available now at all digital retailers, will go to the American Red Cross' Superstorm Sandy Disaster Relief efforts.

'If The Hudson Overflows,' which features backing vocals by Aimee Driver and David "Nova" Nowakowski from Scars on 45, was written months ago for Goldspot's forthcoming album, due out in 2013. But after witnessing the devastation to Goldspot frontman Siddhartha Khosla's hometown of Hoboken, the band decided to release the single now so that proceeds could assist the families and communities impacted by Superstorm Sandy. Khosla produced 'If The Hudson Overflows,' with Beach Boys engineer Jeff Peters, who produced Goldspot's two full-length albums - Tally of the Yes Men (2005) and 2010's And the Elephant is Dancing -and the 2011 EP Ina Mina Dika.

"When I wrote this song, it was really just a love song for my wife. In the song, the Hudson overflowing was supposed to be a metaphor for tough times - I never envisioned that the Hudson would actually flood the streets around my home," says Khosla. "My heart goes out to the victims of this disaster, not just in my hometown of Hoboken, but everywhere on the East Coast."

Imagine the fusion of sunny West Coast pop, psychedelia-laced George Harrison and music from classic 1960's Bollywood films, and you're getting close to the sound of Goldspot. The band's independently produced debut album, Tally of the Yes Men, was championed by influential DJ/music supervisor Nic Harcourt and hailed as one of the year's 10 best albums by London's Sunday Times while NPR Music praised the follow-up album, And the Elephant is Dancing, for its inventive sounds and independent vision. The group is currently recording its third album, slated for release in 2013.
